regardless とはどんな単語？

- 古英語・中英語の regard（注目する、気にかける）に、否定の意味を持つ接尾辞 -less がついた形です。
- regard はフランス語 regarder（見る、注意する）から来ており、さらに古フランス語の re-（再び）＋ garder（守る、見張る）に由来します。
