カリフォルニアに来てから1年ちょいなわけですが、ぜんぜん英語力が向上していないので、生活や育児とのバランスをみながらチャンスをみつけてここのところ英語で英文法を復習するということをしているのですが、なかなかこれが面白いです。日本の中高6年間では言及されてないことや(忘れてるだけかもしれない)、ものすごく基礎的な文法要素でも、英語ではなんと言うのかというのを知らないので、新しい発見に満ちあふれています。

例えば、how という単語がありますよね。How の使い方はみんな知っていると思います。でも、how が英語でどんな風に定義されているかはあまり知らなくないですか？ how は "Asking about manner" だそうなんです。how で何かを聞くとき、manner を聞いてたのか！！！ って思いません？ manner やったんやで。
